Features and benefits

Connecting rods

·        Connecting rods are steel forgings – crankshaft end is split at a 45 degree angle

-        Allows clearance for installation or removal through cylinder bore

-        Location of split reduces connecting rod bolt loading when rod is pulling piston down on intake stroke

·        Tongue-and-groove design

-        Prevents rod bolts from being subjected to side loads

·        Taper rod and piston pin bore

-        Provide larger bottom bearing surface in area of highest loads

·        Pin bore load area in piston overlaps load area in rod

-        Helps minimize bending of piston pin under load
