Plate-type baler belt fasteners and extra service life hooks

Plate-type belt fasteners

John Deere plate-type belt fasteners are designed with pre-assembled rivets in each plate. This common bar provides accuracy in installation. The loop is made of a cold forged material for greater wear resistance. The plates and rivets are stainless steel to resist oxidation.

Two rivets lock each plate into the belt to prevent the edges from pulling out. The notched spring-steel pin secures the splice and prevents the pin from moving. The interlocked plate fingers provide 8,300 lbs. of pullout strength, twice the pullout strength of a wire-type splice.

Extra-service-life hooks

The John Deere extra-service-life hooks have 8-percent more wire mass than rectangular hooks and 37-percent more wire mass than round wire hooks. The extra-service-life hooks are interchangeable with the rectangular hook applications. They are easy to service with repair tools normally on hand.

The increased wire height of the rectangular hook, 0.0625 in. versus 0.0575 in., provides increased strength and improved durability. The pull out strength is 5,000 lbs. The increased strength of the point radius provides reduced metal fatigue and resistance to opening.
